Illustrated books
Two children’s book made together with Marta Lourenço, the story writer behind these illustrations.
2015 - 2016
This book is for children between 4 and 5 years old. It’s a story of a boy that loved the sea and a girl that loved the sky. Amazed by her friend’s passion for the sea, the girl discovers a way to “fly” so she can see the sea from above and understand its wonders.
For this story, I chose a way of expression more naive, like coloured chalk that leaves an irregular path behind, on the floor.
This book is for children 8 years old or older. This is the story of a girl, Flor da Manhã (Morning Flower) and a boy, Vertigem de Puma (Puma’s Vertigo), belonging to the tribe that was balanced in the Line of the Equator. It is also a story of a storytelling grandmother who, under the starry sky of Alentejo (Portugal), teaches her granddaughter that life is made of choices and love is the best of all.
For this book, and because it’s for older children than The Blue Boy, I chose a cleaner and more serious drawing. Because it’s a story about a tribe I picked a more geometrical way of representing these characters.
